When setting up this blog, I apparently already had one way back in the day, so I am just using my background and going with it. My name is Haley Cobb and I am in the 5th year alternative degree program, pursuing my master's degree in elementary education. I graduated from the University of Montevallo with a bachelor's degree in business management. I did not grow up wanting to be a teacher. Over the last 3 years of my life is when I had a change of heart. I thoroughly believe my two year old son has a lot to do with it. I am so enthused every time he learns a new word or color or object. He keeps me on my toes but I would not trade it for the world. This is my second year working as the clerical assistant at A.H. Watood Elementary School. I love my job and my day is always entertained by all of our younger students. This past year our school received a grant that started our Pre-K program and those babies are seriously the light of our school. It is so fun to watch them grow and I love seeing how far they have come from the beginning of school until now. I truly feel that teaching is where I need to be in my life. I love seeing a light bulb go off in a student's head. Being an educator, in my opinion, is probably one of the hardest jobs there is. I love seeing some of the teachers at my school "love" what they do and the ones that put the extra effort into their lesson plan or activity. I know teachers are on over drive the majority of the time, but I do pray I never get to the point of not caring for my students and not wanting to put the little extra effort in. I say that because I hope one day that my son has that one teacher who truly loves what he or she does. I want this blogging experience to help me prepare for my future class. I can look back on posts and other's to remind me or help answer questions that I have learned from this class. I look forward to this class and learning more about the technology, that one day I can offer to my students.
